Gestern hat die Verleihung der Emmys 2018 stattgefunden. Dabei handelt es sich im Grunde um die TV-Oscars, könnte man sagen. In diesem Jahr haben erneut auch die Streaming-Anbieter reichlich abgesahnt – etwa Amazon mit „The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel“.
So konnte das bei Amazon Prime als Originalserie eingebundene Format gleich fünf Emmys mit nach Hause nehmen. Darunter war die wichtige Trophäe als beste Comedy-Serie. Zudem erhielt die Serienschöpferin Amy Sherman-Palladino jeweils einen Emmy für ihre Arbeit als Autorin und als Regisseurin der Serie. Hauptdarstellerin Rachel Brosnahan wurde ebenfalls mit einem Emmy ausgezeichnet. Und die Nebendarstellerin Alex Borstein nahm schließlich einen Preis für die beste Nebendarstellerin in einer Comedy-Serie mit nach Hause.
Eine Überraschung ist, dass das als Favorit gehandelte Drama „The Handmaid’s Tale – Der Report der Magd“ trotz acht Nominierungen am Ende komplett leer ausging. Auch HBOs Serie „Westworld“, um welche immer noch viel Hype herrscht, konnte bei den meisten Nominierungen am Ende nicht punkten. Das Sci-Fi-Drama erntete schließlich lediglich den Preis für Thandie Newton als beste Nebendarstellerin.
